Kodinhi village, Kerala
Kodinhi of Kerala is a mysterious village. The birth of twins are common. About 2,000 families live in the village. A few years ago, according to official figures, 250 are twins. Local doctors said the number could actually be 350. Per year, increasing the number of twins. What are the reasons behind it, yet no one has come to know. According to one estimate, usually every 1,000 children in India in 4 twins are born. But on Kodinhi 1000 figure is much higher. The Telegraph reports that between 2004 and 2009, only 120 twins born here.

  2. The crop is grown in many parts of west and central Africa. A 2008 study noted that yams are believed “to contain a natural hormone phytoestrogen, which may stimulate multiple ovulation”. But the idea that eating yam increased the chances of having twins is “speculation”, Ashiru warns.
